160k route details can be viewed here ---->      http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/6480220

Riders have a choice of 60, 80, 100 or 160km routes.  All routes begin and end at Durham College and run mostly on quiet roads through rolling countryside.

Who May Participate?

The event is open to all ages.  Those under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a rider of at least 18 years of age.  Competitive riders are also welcome.  There is a cutoff of 400 entries.  All riders should be in good shape with good riding skills.  Group riding is more efficient but do not attempt to ride in a group that is faster than your ability permits.  Slower riders are advised to start no later than 7:30am.  All riders must be finished by 5:00pm.

Safety

Cyclists are responsible for their own safety.  Always ride single file on hills, through corners, in heavy traffic or on busy highways.  Police are empowered to enforce the Highway Traffic Act which applies to bicycles as well as to automobiles.  By law, helmets are required for riders under 18 years of age.  The OCC strongly recommends that helmets be worn at all times.  Lastly, this is a tour, not a race.

Starting Point

Durham College, Oshawa, Ontario

Exit Simcoe Street North from Highway 401 to Conlin Road.

Route maps will be made available to all riders.

Numbered rider identification will also be issued and must be worn in a visible location at all times.

Help En Route

There will be a number of OCC vehicles with mechanical support, communication, water and basic first aid.  In addition, St. John Ambulance will provide First Aid as required.  We strongly suggest that you bicycle be in good condition.  Water, refreshments, emergency money as well as a spare tube, pump and minor tool kit should be carried.

Riders must stay on course at all times.  Any rider unable to complete the planned route must advise organizers by calling the telephone number provided on the route maps or by returning the detachable portion of their numbered rider identification to organizers at Durham College.

*NEW* At The Finish

Food services will begin at 11:00am.  Upon the return of the detachable portion of the numbered rider identification, each participant will receive a food voucher for lunch.
